About Us
The Jodi George Financial Education Council (“the Council”) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that teaches adults money management skills that will benefit them and their families. Our strengths are our grassroots approach, free or affordable classes, and convenient schedules for working adults.
In today’s climate of natural disasters, rising energy prices, the Social Security trust fund potential crisis, and a rising Federal deficit, it is critical that adults acquire financial skills. Financial savvy may be the difference between those who weather the economic storm and those who do not.
Financial success does not necessarily mean that a person is wealthy. Rather, it means that a person has accomplished his/her financial goals (e.g., buying a home, paying for a child’s college tuition, living comfortably in retirement, or starting a business). We believe that people who grasp the necessary knowledge to make informed financial decisions are more likely to achieve their financial goals than people who lack those skills. We strive to help people achieve their financial goals by offering classes that teach personal savings, debt management, asset building, and college and retirement savings.
Our Mission
The mission of the Council is that it be an information resource that adults can depend on to provide free and/or affordable money management classes at convenient times and in local communities. The Council strives to symbolize reliable, accessible, and clear financial guidance.
